Food+Art=Marije Vogelzang

Last night I was watching one of my favorite shows about food…Chef Abroad. If you have not seen it before, Chef Michael Smith travels the world in search of new culinary adventures! This show makes me hungry and want to jump on a plane. It also fascinates me to see what people are eating all around the world, and what they are doing with food.

Last night I was blown away when Chef Michael went to Amsterdam and visited the studio/restaurant of eating designer Marije Vogelzang. These photos can only begin to give you a slight idea of her amazing work…

marshmallow clouds, made with rain

Pepper bombs, stuffed with various ingredients that each have specific qualities, some are “brain bombs”, “sex bombs”, “energy bombs”

this project is my fav! It was called eating on the beat- participants had to take little bites of specific food in timing with a drum! musical chewing! so very cool.

Bonjour Internet!

Hello!! At long long LONG last! Bryanna and I have put this project off for far too long, and now that I’ve gotten some other major things out of the way (like school, winter blues, and working waay too much) It’s time to get rollin’!

We love so many things having to do with hand-made, art, food, gardening, crafting, Nova Scotia and so much more. Our intention for this little blog is to share our projects, our weekend adventures in the city, and to document all things that inspire us.

I think to start off I’ll post some photos of springtime Hali that i took yesterday! Hali has been quite grey for the past few days, but that’s OK with me! In fact, the bright green newborn leaves contrast so amazingly against the gloomy sky! Yesterday afternoon it started clearing up and I took some photos out of my kitchen window of the intense greenness that is happening back there! Amazing!

Speaking of green stuff, I have a neat indoor project to share with you soon!

Welcome to Eye See

We hope you get to meet us at the Halifax Crafters Winter Market this weekend.  When we get back we’re going to sit down and give our little blog some much-needed TLC.  Until then enjoy a gallery of our work!
